Sonia Reid

A few years ago I found the NeuroVocal Method and I knew I had found something very special. I registered and completed the teacher training, and very quickly realized that this method was the missing puzzle piece in my vocal coaching and performing.

When the opportunity opened for me to become a Licensed Instructor I knew this was the next step in my journey.

Cred
I’m a vocal coach, professional singer, and studio director with over 25 years of experience helping artists discover their unique sound and develop a healthy, expressive voice. I hold a Bachelor of Arts from Redeemer University and am a certified Suzuki Vocal Teacher, which means I bring both classical technique and creative, singer-centered approaches into my teaching.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with hundreds of singers—from brand-new beginners to experienced performers—helping them grow in confidence, skill, and artistry. I founded Sonia Reid Studios to create a space where singers could not only train technically but also thrive artistically and emotionally.

I’ve developed signature programs like Sing, Reach, Soar, and I lead group classes that combine technique, performance coaching, and wellness. I’m also proud to be the first Licensed Instructor of the NeuroVocal Method, a science-backed, voice-friendly approach that changed the way I sing and teach. Now, I use this method to mentor aspiring vocal coaches and support artists in building fulfilling, income-generating careers through music.
My story
I grew up surrounded by gospel music in a church community that taught me how to connect deeply with what I sing. I started piano and voice lessons early, and for a long time, I thought performing was about perfection—about earning applause, proving I belonged, and trying to meet an invisible standard. Somewhere along the way, I lost touch with the joy of singing. It became pressure instead of expression.

Everything shifted when I discovered the NeuroVocal Method. Going through the training and becoming the first Licensed Instructor helped me reconnect with my voice in a new way. I finally found an approach that felt natural, healthy, and authentic. Now, performing is fun. It’s easy. It’s honest. I no longer feel like I have to prove myself when I step on stage—I just get to show up as me.

That experience changed everything about how I teach. For me, vocal work isn’t just about singing well—it’s about finding your voice in every sense. I want singers to experience the kind of transformation I did: to rediscover their sound, reclaim their identity, and feel powerful in their own expression. Whether you’re a performer, a teacher, or someone who just loves to sing, I’m here to help you use your voice with freedom, joy, and purpose.
